So a friend inquired about starting a fat loss program. The issue was a busy life. So it got me thinking…what does it mean to be “ready”? When is the right time? Things will always come up. Holidays, events, birthdays…life challenges, money issues, health issues…travel, job, family, friends…but when is the right time?! Now! “Now” is the answer. Your life isn’t miraculously going to open a door and say “OK, I got the rest, you can focus on this, now, go ahead.” You have to put yourself as a priority, or even just MORE important than something else in the list of things we call life, and MAKE it happen. It may mean juggling some items, planning more than most people would need to, waking up earlier to fit certain things in, letting go of preconceived notions, saying “no” to more trivial things or just surrendering to the process of needing to adjust your life. There is no hurdle that can’t be overcome, you just may not see how, yet. In the context of weight loss, it is easy to put off “starting”. It is comforting to eat what you want, when you want and ignore the scale and/or the waistband…until it isn’t easy to ignore anymore. Or even worse, think you are doing all the “right” things and not seeing results! Then you have to make up for lost time and it is harder to LOSE fat than it is to GAIN fat, for most. Start with learning what you need to do. Make a commitment, get a plan, make some adjustments, then make some progress! So what are you waiting for?
